Rural areas and local administrations reach consensus on financial investments - Authorities reach accord on financing for real estate projects
In a recent announcement, Minister President Anke Rehlinger (SPD) revealed that Saarland is set to receive a substantial amount of funding for infrastructure and urban development. The announcement followed a meeting with municipal leaders, and key figures from the Association of Counties and the Association of Towns and Municipalities were present.
The total amount of the special federal infrastructure fund, amounting to 1.1791 billion euros, will be distributed between the state and the municipalities. The state government will receive 40% of the funds, while the municipalities in Saarland will receive 60%, equating to nearly 1.135 billion euros.
The municipalities will contribute half of the funds for a new swimming pool program, with the state government providing the other half. This will result in a total of 113.5 million euros being available for the program.
Moreover, the urban development promotion has received an additional 22 million euros from the federal government, bringing the total allocation for this initiative to 44 million euros. The remaining 60% of the special fund for infrastructure in Sachsen-Lauenburg will be managed by the district administration (Kreisverwaltung).
Minister President Rehlinger is scheduled to present a government declaration in the state parliament in October, where she is expected to speak about investments in Saarland as a whole. The funding for infrastructure and urban development is expected to greatly benefit the region, providing opportunities for growth and improvement in various sectors.
