Authorities seek concerned bystanders following two break-ins in Bordesholm.
The Neumünster Police have issued a series of holiday safety tips following a string of break-ins in unoccupied single-family houses on Moorweg and Boltwisch streets in Bordesholm between May 8 and 13, 2025.
In a bid to prevent burglaries during vacations, the Police Directorate Neumünster advises homeowners to eliminate hiding places for burglars. This reduces opportunities for criminals to approach unnoticed.
Simulating one's presence while away is also crucial for burglary prevention. By setting timers for indoor and outdoor lights, and engaging neighbours and friends to keep a watchful eye on the property, it can deter professional thieves who target homes where residents are believed to be absent.
The police also advise against advertising your absence on social media or voicemail messages. Posting about your vacation until you return can attract unwanted attention. Instead, it is recommended to stop mail and newspaper deliveries temporarily during your absence.
Home security systems and surveillance cameras can provide additional protection while you are away. If you notice anything suspicious during your vacation, contact the local police immediately.
The Neumünster Police are seeking witnesses or informants about the break-ins. Anyone with suspicious observations, strange individuals, or vehicles spotted at the crime scenes during the mentioned period is asked to contact the Neumünster Police at 04321-9450 or the Bordesholm police station at 04322-96100.
The perpetrator(s) rummaged through cabinets and drawers in both houses, but it is unclear if anything was stolen. No new information about the break-ins in Moorweg and Boltwisch was provided.
