Autoshow IAA set for an additional six-year run in Munich

Munich is set to host the IAA Mobility auto show for the next six years, as the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has announced an extension of the contract with Messe München. The decision was made by the VDA board just before the opening ceremony of this year's edition.

The news was announced by Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD), who described the decision as "good news for Munich." Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder (CSU) also confirmed the extension, describing it as "a very wise decision."

The IAA Mobility has been held in Munich every two years since 2021, following its move from Frankfurt. Prior to 2021, the auto show was held in Frankfurt for many years.

The exact length of the new contract is from 2023 to 2031, meaning that the next two editions, scheduled for 2023 and 2025, will also take place in Munich. The corresponding contracts are expected to be signed today.

VDA President Hildegard Müller announced the decision at the opening of this year's IAA Mobility. The extension of the contract with Messe München was due to expire in 2025.

The IAA Mobility will continue to take place in Munich for at least the next six years, providing a significant boost to the city's economy and its reputation as a hub for the automotive industry.
