Avoided transportation disruption as ATU Local 741 and Voyago agree on provisional contract

The upcoming ratification vote on September 21st could determine the future employment conditions and job security of Paratransit drivers in London. The vote, which will take place at the ATU Local 741 head office at 390 Saskatoon St., will decide whether to approve or reject the tentative agreement reached between ATU Local 741 and Trensdev Canada, the employer of Paratransit drivers.

This tentative agreement was reached following the rejection (92 per cent) of the proposed contract by the union members last month. The rejection set up the possibility of strike action, but a successful ratification of the new agreement could prevent this.

The key issues addressed in the new contract include wages and employee retention, both crucial factors for the Paratransit drivers. The details of the contract, however, will not be released until after the ratification vote.

The ratification vote is open to members of ATU Local 741 and will take place between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on the 21st of September. The outcome of this vote could significantly impact the employment conditions of the Paratransit drivers.

If the ratification vote approves the tentative agreement, it may finalize the resolution of the issue regarding the previously rejected proposed contract. On the other hand, if the ratification vote rejects the agreement, it may lead to further negotiations or potential strike action.

It is important to note that Trensdev Canada is the parent company of Voyago, adding another layer of significance to this decision. The decision to be made on September 21st at the ATU Local 741 headquarters in London could shape the future of employment for Paratransit drivers in the city.
