Avoided work disruption as ATU Local 741 negotiates provisional agreement with Voyago

Paratransit drivers represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 741 in London are set to vote on a tentative agreement with Trensdev Canada, the parent company of Voyago, regarding their services.

The ratification vote, open only to union members, will take place at the ATU Local 741 head office, located at 390 Saskatoon St., on September 21, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Negotiations between the union and the employer have been ongoing, with key discussions focusing on wages and employee retention. These negotiations are a regular occurrence, as ATU Local 741 negotiates with the transit agency or employer responsible for paratransit services in their region during new collective bargaining agreements.

The rejection of the initial proposed contract by the drivers was overwhelming, with 92% voting against it. This rejection could have potentially led to strike action, but a tentative agreement has since been reached.

However, the specific terms of the agreement will not be disclosed until after the ratification vote has taken place. The union members will have the opportunity to approve or reject the agreement during the vote.

The ratification vote is a crucial step in finalising the contract between ATU Local 741 and Trensdev Canada. The outcome of the vote could have significant implications for the Paratransit services provided by Voyago in the London region.
