Awards for Leadership and Service in 2025 by ANSI have been unveiled
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced the recipients of its 2025 Leadership and Service Awards, recognising individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions to standards development and technology innovation.
The ceremony will take place at two prestigious events: the ANSI Innovation Summit in Rockville, MD, on October 22, and during the GSA Convention 2025, held from September 11 to 13, 2025, at the Maritim Hotel Ingolstadt in Germany. The ceremonies will be hosted by the German Speakers Association e.V. (GSA).
At the ANSI Innovation Summit, Andrew Updegrove of Gesmer Updegrove, LLP will receive the Chairman's Award. This prestigious honour is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to the development and implementation of national and international standards.
In Germany, Thomas Conley, U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, will receive the Next Generation Award. This award recognises young professionals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and potential in their field. Clare Allocca, of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), will also receive the Astin-Polk International Standards Medal for her outstanding contributions to international standards development.
Jeroen Van Dam, of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), will receive the Maureen Breitenberg Conformity Assessment Research Medal. This award honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and implementation of conformity assessment procedures.
Wael Diab, of Futurewei, will receive the Edward Lohse Information Technology Medal for his exceptional work in the field of information technology. Wallie Zoller, Rockwell Automation, and Laura Donohoe, Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), will both receive the Meritorious Service Award for their dedication and service to the standards community.
Ritesh Ghimire, of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will receive the Finegan Standards Medal for his contributions to the aviation industry. Don Mays, of Product Safety Insights, will receive the Howard Coonley Medal for his work in product safety.
At the GSA Convention 2025, Ashleigh McNaboe, Boston Scientific, and Caitlyn Clark, Xcel Energy, will both receive the Next Generation Award. Hae Choe, of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), will receive the Elihu Thomson Electrotechnology Medal for his contributions to the field of electrotechnology.
Marc Deshusses, Duke University, will receive the Meritorious Service Award for his service to the standards community. Peter Pondillo, of Corning Incorporated, will receive the George S. Wham Leadership Medal for his leadership in standards development. Thor Petersen, Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), and Alan Manche, Schneider Electric, will both receive the Meritorious Service Award for their dedication and service.
Jonathan Colby, of Streamwise Development, will receive the Gerald H. Ritterbusch Conformity Assessment Medal for his contributions to the development and implementation of conformity assessment procedures.
These awards highlight the importance of standards in various industries and the individuals who are driving innovation and progress. The recipients' achievements serve as an inspiration to future generations and demonstrate the impact of standards on our daily lives.
