Paymentissues halted customer transactions with Crédit Mutuel and CIC, affecting withdrawals and deposits as the day came to an end.

Banking services for customers of Crédit Mutuel and CIC experienced an unexpected failure, causing issues with both payments and withdrawals towards the end of the day.

On Saturday, August 30, an internal malfunction occurred at CIC and Crédit Mutuel banks, causing disruptions to card holders' ability to make payments and withdrawals. Reports of the malfunction started to surface at 5:00 PM on various platforms, including the Downdetector website and social network X.

According to the Downdetector website, the number of reports concerning Crédit Mutuel exceeded those concerning CIC. At 8:00 PM, over 5,000 reports were recorded for Crédit Mutuel, while approximately 2,800 reports were recorded for CIC. The reports did not specify the exact nature of the malfunction, but they did indicate that it continued beyond 7:30 PM.

The banking group identified the cause of the incident and their IT teams resolved the issue. However, the reports on the Downdetector website do not indicate if the malfunction has been fully resolved.

It's worth noting that no publicly reported problems linked to internet banking cards specifically occurred between 5:20 PM and 7:30 PM on August 30, 2025, that were possibly not caused by external factors. Banks such as Starling Bank and Swish operated normally that day with no incidents reported. There were no disruptions in card or online banking services recorded at that specific time and date.

The Downdetector website is a tool that records reports about website or service outages. The incident was first reported on the platform by various internet users, and later on social network X.

This incident serves as a reminder for banks to continually improve their systems to ensure smooth operations and minimal disruptions for their customers. The banking group has not yet released a statement addressing the specifics of the incident, but customers are advised to monitor their accounts for any unusual activity and to contact the bank if they have any concerns.
