Barrier established at Lower Stephansberg region

The Lower Stephansberg in Bamberg will be closed from September 1 to September 12, 2025, with the closure starting from house number 5a. This announcement comes as the Bamberg municipal utilities have completed a shift of a gas house connection.

During this period, motorized traffic will be detoured via Würzburg Street and Kaulberg, an ongoing situation that aims to ensure the safety of both the construction workers and the public. Unfortunately, through traffic from Stephansplatz to Judenstraße will remain impossible during this closure.

However, pedestrians can still pass through the construction site, and residents can access it as well. The company Göhl Straßenbau GmbH, with extensive experience in installing gas, water, district heating, and sewer pipelines in the region, is responsible for the construction work.

The exact nature of the construction work has not been disclosed, but it is expected to improve the infrastructure of the Lower Stephansberg. The closure does not affect any new locations or areas beyond the specified stretch of the Lower Stephansberg.

Residents and pedestrians are advised to plan their routes accordingly and to follow the detour signs during the closure period. The city of Bamberg apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the public for their understanding and cooperation.
