German Bundesliga Recap: Bayern Munich Maintain Top Spot, Frankfurt Shine

In the latest round of the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich continued their dominance, while Eintracht Frankfurt showed their mettle with a strong away performance.

Bayern Munich's Away Victory

Sandro Wagner, the new coach of Augsburg, suffered his first defeat in his home debut as Bayern Munich clinched a 3-2 victory. Goals from Serge Gnabry, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise ensured Bayern's first away win of the season. Despite the top striker Kane remaining without a goal in his 100th competitive game for Bayern, the Bavarian giants maintained their position at the top of the table.

Frankfurt's Impressive Away Performance

Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, put in a stellar performance in their away game against TSG Hoffenheim. Ritsu Doan scored the opening goal for Frankfurt in the 17th minute, followed by his second ten minutes later. Kristijan Jakic and Mert Kömür scored for Hoffenheim to bring the score to 2:3, but Can Uzun's goal in the second half sealed Frankfurt's 3-1 victory. The win keeps Frankfurt level on points with Bayern at the top.

Other Notable Results

RB Leipzig managed a 2-0 home win against 1. FC Heidenheim, with Christoph Baumgartner and Rōmulo scoring for Leipzig. Bremen managed to secure a point despite being a man down, with Isaac Schmidt scoring at 2:3 and Karim Coulibaly securing a point in injury time. VfB Stuttgart secured their first three points of the new season with a 1-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach, with Chema Andrés scoring the winning goal in the 79th minute.

Transfer News

In transfer news, VfB Stuttgart sold Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United for up to 90 million euros in the summer of 2025. Woltemade was officially signed by Newcastle after completing a medical check within 24 hours of the agreement. Stuttgart then used part of these funds to acquire player Badredine Bouanani for 20 million euros.

However, the planned transfer of offensive player Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich is in jeopardy due to an injury within FC Chelsea.

Leipzig struggled to generate impact against Heidenheim in their home debut under new coach Ole Werner, while Bayer Leverkusen drew 3:3 against Werder Bremen, despite holding a 3:1 lead and the chance for their first league win under new coach Erik ten Hag. Deniz Undav had to be substituted early due to an injury and sat on the bench with a heavily bandaged left knee in Frankfurt's game against Hoffenheim.

This weekend's results set the stage for an exciting continuation of the German Bundesliga.
