FC Bayern Women's Team Set to Break Women's League Attendance Record

FC Bayern Munich's women's team is all set to make history as they prepare for their opening Frauen Bundesliga game at the Allianz Arena. The match, scheduled for this weekend, is expected to break the world record for a women's league game attendance.

The 75,000-capacity stadium in the Frottmaning district of Munich has been the venue for the women's team on five occasions. Most recently, in a game against FC Barcelona, the stadium pulled in a club record crowd of 24,000 spectators. This time around, the expected attendance is over 57,000 fans, surpassing the previous record of 38,365 set by 1. FC Köln when they hosted Eintracht Frankfurt.

José Barcala, the new head coach of FC Bayern, will be managing his first Bundesliga game at the Allianz Arena. Klara Bühl, a player for FC Bayern, is confident about the growing fan base and expects a large crowd for the first showpiece game at the stadium in two years.

The Bavarian Football Association (BFV) is offering special packages to clubs registered in the southern German state to watch the game at a discounted price. This move is aimed at encouraging more fans to attend the historic event.

The world record for a domestic women's game was set six years ago when 60,739 saw Atlético de Madrid host FC Barcelona. However, the record for a European club match was broken by FC Barcelona at their Camp Nou stadium. The record for a women's game in Munich was set in 2012 with a crowd of 50,212 at the UEFA Women's Champions League final.

It's worth noting that English side Arsenal have recorded four of the eight attendances over 50,000 but cannot surpass the world record for a league game due to the capacity of their stadium. The German club record for a women's game was broken this year in the DFB Pokal with a crowd of 57,000 at the Volksparkstadion.

The current attendance for the match is set to enter the top ten attendances for a women's league match. FC Bayern has now comfortably surpassed the world record set by Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium in 2023 with ticket sales for their opening Frauen Bundesliga game.

With the excitement building up, it seems that FC Bayern's women's team is not just setting the pace on the field but also off it, as they aim to break the world record for attendance in a women's league match.
