In the Dutch political landscape, a tight race is unfolding as we approach the November 22 election. According to the most recent poll of polls, the pro-farmers BBB party, led by Caroline van der Plas, is in a dead heat with the VVD and GroenLinks/PvdA coalition, each party garnering between 16% and 18% support.

Caroline van der Plas, the charismatic leader of the BBB, has been candid about her personal reservations regarding the role of prime minister. She has expressed her fear of flying and discomfort with formal attire, as well as her concerns about the travel involved in meeting foreign leaders.

Despite the BBB's current lead in the polls, Caroline van der Plas has asserted that she will not accept the position of prime minister if her party emerges as the largest after the election. Instead, she plans to present the party's prime ministerial candidate before she goes on holiday this Sunday.

The identity of the potential prime ministerial candidate for the BBB remains undisclosed. However, it has been reported that the party is in talks with someone who boasts international experience for the role. Notably, Pieter Omtzigt, a former CDA parliamentarian and current independent, has stated that he will not join forces with the BBB.

Omtzigt, who is widely believed to be the leader of a potential party in the election, has not yet announced his plans. All polls suggest that a party led by Omtzigt would be the largest in the election. However, the current poll of polls does not indicate which party will emerge as the largest after the November 22 vote.

Caroline van der Plas, in her relatively short tenure as an MP, has expressed some doubts about her readiness for the prime ministerial role. She enjoys her work as an MP and has stated that she might not be ready to take on the responsibilities of prime minister just yet.

The job of prime minister, according to the BBB's sole MP, would be an "enormous attack" on Caroline van der Plas's private life. If the potential prime ministerial candidate agrees, van der Plas has promised to step aside and instead stay in parliament, leading the parliamentary party.

As the election approaches, the Dutch political scene is abuzz with anticipation. The tight race between the BBB, VVD, and GroenLinks/PvdA promises to make for an exciting election night. Stay tuned for more updates as the race unfolds.
