New Book "Alaïa by Seklaoui" Offers a Glimpse into the Magic of Fashion House Alaïa

In an homage to friendship and the people who bring collections to life, the new book "Alaïa by Seklaoui" provides a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process at the iconic French fashion house Alaïa.

Published by Assouline, the book is the fourth part of Alaïa's 'Dialogue' series and a collaboration with French photographer Anthony Seklaoui, who has documented Pieter Mulier's acclaimed collections for the past three years.

The series is divided into various sections, each relating to one of Mulier's collections for the house. Mulier, who is the current creative director at Alaïa, has expressed that he wants Alaïa to represent more than just clothes. According to him, Azzedine Alaïa envisioned Alaïa as a whole, as a space where fashion opens up to art and beauty.

The book captures the 'raw beauty' of the creative process, according to Mulier. It offers access to the legendary atelier of Alaïa, known for its sensual, sculpted silhouettes and architectural sensibility. The book includes the ateliers, teams, production, and the girls walking in the show, all part of the Alaïa circle.

Last September, Mulier's collection was showcased at the Frank Lloyd-Wright-designed spiraling staircase of the Guggenheim Solomon R Museum in New York. Mulier refers to these collections as his 'first chapter' at Alaïa.

The vision of Alaïa as a space where fashion connects with its time remains today, according to Mulier. He will show his next collection during the upcoming A/W 2025 women's fashion week in Paris, which will presumably mark the start of 'chapter two' for him at Alaïa.

A larger version of the book, in special display box, is available in limited-edition numbers. "Alaïa by Seklaoui" is now available from Alaïa boutiques, maison-alaia.com, and selected distributors.

Previously, Mulier outfitted the dancers of Paris' Crazy Horse revue show, captured in movement by photographer Sam Rock. The book is a tribute to Mulier's friendship and the people who contribute to the magic of a collection coming to life.

In conclusion, "Alaïa by Seklaoui" is a must-read for anyone interested in the world of fashion and art, offering a unique insight into the creative process at one of the most iconic fashion houses in the world.
