Behind-the-scenes tour at Autobahn GmbH's facility situated in Hof district
The Federal Highway Authority will be opening its doors to the public on September 27, 2025, for an Open House Day, known as Highway Day. This nationwide event aims to showcase the passion, technology, and team spirit behind Germany's infrastructure.
One of the branches participating in this historic first Highway Day is the North Bavaria Branch. This branch, located in Rehau, will be offering a variety of activities, including local events, construction site tours, technical demonstrations, interactive activities, and career information.
Thomas Pfeifer, Director of the North Bavaria Branch, expressed his excitement about the event. He looks forward to honouring the work of their colleagues and sharing enthusiasm for a well-functioning road network. The branch will also be providing insights into their work and the Rehau Highway Maintenance Facility, a facility they are celebrating as it marks its 25th anniversary as part of Highway Day.
Dr. Michael Güntner, CEO of the Federal Highway Authority, emphasised that highways are more than just asphalt and bridges. They connect people, regions, and ideas. He stated that the highway presents itself event is an opportunity to showcase this connection.
The event will take place in Rehau, among other locations, and will feature the title "The Highway presents itself". At all ten branches of the Federal Highway Authority, visitors can expect to gain insights into the world of highways and have the chance to meet the people behind the infrastructure.
