In the heart of Cagliari, at the Bastione di Saint Remy covered walkway, a captivating exhibition is now open for all to experience. Titled "The Places and Words of Enrico Berlinguer," this exhibition offers a comprehensive exploration of the life and times of the renowned Italian politician.

Organised jointly by the Gramsci Foundation and the Berlinguer Foundation, the exhibition delves into various aspects of Berlinguer's life, from his international commitments to his stance on critical issues such as the Italian crisis and the Vietnam War.

One of the most intriguing sections of the exhibition is dedicated to the democratic alternation, a concept that Berlinguer favoured over the Historic Compromise. This section is beautifully illustrated with images, documentary historical reconstructions, videos, and posters, providing a vivid and immersive experience for visitors.

The exhibition also sheds light on Berlinguer's moral compass, as demonstrated in an interview given to Eugenio Scalfari in 1981. A moral question is addressed, offering insights into Berlinguer's thoughtful and principled approach to politics.

Berlinguer's international influence is highlighted throughout the exhibition, showcasing his trips to China in October 1975 and the Middle East. The exhibition also recounts his solidarity with the Palestinian people and his friendship with Yasser Arafat.

The exhibition does not shy away from addressing contemporary issues and the future. It includes a section about current events, as well as a passage about the attack on Nixon, stating that he should not count on Italy for support.

The exhibition also recounts significant events from the post-war period to the 1980s, providing a comprehensive overview of Italy's political landscape during that time.

Visitors will also find photographs of Aldo Moro and Christian Democracy, symbolising the attempt at the Historic Compromise. The exhibition also includes a passage about the 1973 Sofia attack, adding depth to the narrative.

The exhibition concludes with a journey into Berlinguer's private life, offering a more personal perspective on this influential figure.

"The Places and Words of Enrico Berlinguer" is a must-visit for anyone interested in Italian history and politics. The exhibition is open until May 31, so be sure to plan your visit soon.
