Bethesda Foundation's donations have been increased twice.
In the heart of Wuppertal, construction work on a new group home began in March 2023, marking a significant step forward for the SKJ Association. This non-profit organisation, dedicated to supporting young people who are often overlooked by traditional support systems, has been making a difference since 2017.
The SKJ Association, known for its intensive group offers of psychosocial support, educational and vocational promotion, social learning, and preparation for independent life, started working with youth aged 14 and above who face significant behavioral issues such as anger, aggression, and rejection.
The new group home project, a converted neo-apostolic church, is a joint effort, with the Independent Living Foundation (Independent Living Stiftung) providing crucial funding for the project named "Systemsprenger." Although the exact amount of funding is not specified, it has been instrumental in realising this ambitious project.
Meanwhile, Tacheles, a counseling centre under the SKJ Association's wing, has been providing invaluable support to those struggling with problems related to job centres or social services. Last year alone, Tacheles advised over 1,500 people from Wuppertal and the surrounding area, and hundreds more via phone calls.
The demand for Tacheles' services is immense, according to Harald Thomé, its chairman. The new group home, offering individual apartments with kitchens and bathrooms, common rooms, offices, and economic areas, will undoubtedly provide a safe and supportive environment for these young people who often come from difficult life situations.
The new group home will also be energy-efficient, thanks to the installation of a heat pump and a photovoltaic system. This commitment to sustainability reflects the SKJ Association's dedication to creating a better future for these young people.
The investment costs for the new group home are approximately 1.3 million euros. The Bethe Foundation, a well-known philanthropic organisation, has agreed to double donations up to 2,000 euros per individual donation, up to a total of 30,000 euros. This generous gesture will significantly boost the funds available for the project.
Donations can be made to the SKJ Association's account at Stadtsparkasse Wuppertal, with the keyword "Systemsprenger" ensuring that your donation will be doubled by the Bethe Foundation. Tacheles also regularly provides support to other counseling centres, making every donation a valuable contribution to the wider community.
As construction work on the new group home continues, the SKJ Association and Tacheles remain committed to transforming lives and providing a brighter future for those who need it most.
