Binance Appoints SB Seker as CEO for Asia-Pacific Operations
In a move aimed at boosting growth and fostering regulatory cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets, cryptocurrency exchange Binance has appointed SB Seker as the CEO for its operations in the region.
Seker, who brings over 20 years of experience in the public sector, fintech, and blockchain industries, is joining Binance from Crypto.com Group. With extensive regulatory experience, Seker's appointment is a strategic move by Binance to strengthen its regulatory relationships across Asia's crypto markets.
In his new role, Seker will oversee Binance's strategic efforts in the APAC region, develop strategic partnerships, and manage stakeholder engagement with regulators and policymakers. He will also be responsible for Binance's regional operations and will focus on "responsible growth" and regulatory cooperation in the APAC region.
Seker's career includes stints as a litigator in Australia, a central banking lawyer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and senior legal roles at Ant Group, Rothschild & Co, and Amicorp Group. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President at Crypto.com Group, where he managed global product development and handled legal and regulatory matters in the APAC and MENASA regions.
The APAC region is a key growth market for cryptocurrency adoption, with several countries implementing comprehensive digital asset regulations. Binance's focus under new leadership is on growth and engagement in the APAC region, and the exchange has emphasized compliance and regulatory engagement as core priorities for its global operations.
