Border authorities apprehended individuals with traffic violations at checkpoints
Federal Police Arrest Three Convicted Traffic Offenders in Görlitz
The Federal Police (Bundespolizei) in Görlitz carried out surveillance on the A4 motorway, leading to the arrest of three convicted traffic offenders as part of temporarily reintroduced border controls.
The first arrest was made at a highway control point near Görlitz, where a 27-year-old Slovak was apprehended for driving without a license. The Cottbus Local Court had previously convicted him for the same offense. Despite avoiding paying the fine, he was forced to pay 1,581.00 euros to the court in the presence of officers following his arrest.
Shortly after, a 46-year-old Pole was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident without permission, incurring a debt of 750.00 euros to the Frankfurt court. The Polish citizen lacked the means to pay the fine on the spot, leading to his arrest. He was subsequently taken to prison as he lacked the money to avoid substitute imprisonment.
The debt for the 46-year-old Pole was incurred in connection with a verdict from the Dillenburg Local Court.
Later that evening, a 48-year-old Polish traveler was arrested at a highway rest area for driving under the influence. He had to pay 2,000.00 euros to settle debts imposed by the Bayreuth Local Court. The Polish citizen also had a detention warrant from the Görlitz Local Court for theft with weapons.
No additional information was provided about the third and fifth arrested individuals.
The 34-year-old Polish citizen was arrested and taken to a detention facility for driving without a license, with an outstanding fine of 1,600.00 euros. There was no mention of prior convictions for the 27-year-old Slovak.
The Federal Police continued their operations, resulting in the arrest of another traffic offender.
