Boy Lost at East Coast Park on Friday Confirmed Dead by Police at Eleven Years of Age
In a tragic turn of events, an 11-year-old boy named Muhammad Hairil Muhammad Effendi was found deceased on Saturday, August 31, off East Coast Park in Singapore.
The incident unfolded on the same day when the Singapore Police Force (SPF) issued an appeal for information about Muhammad Hairil, who was last seen near Block 29 Marine Crescent. The SPF received a call for assistance at 9.55 pm on Saturday.
Upon arrival, SCDF officers brought the boy ashore, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. The boy had special needs and rarely spoke, according to reports by The Straits Times.
The Singapore Police Force has asked the public not to share any videos or images of the deceased out of respect for the family. The police do not suspect foul play in the case of Muhammad Hairil's death, and investigations are ongoing.
The exact circumstances leading to Muhammad Hairil's disappearance and death are still under investigation. A neighbour's CCTV footage shows Muhammad Hairil leaving a home in Marine Terrace on Friday, Aug 29, but the search results do not provide the name of the neighbour.
The mother of Muhammad Hairil, who wished to be known only as Ain, has not been identified in earlier bullet points. The police are urging anyone with information that could help in the investigation to come forward.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Singapore Police Force have been working together to gather more details about the incident. The public is asked to keep Muhammad Hairil's family in their thoughts during this difficult time.
