Brussels is gearing up for a year-long celebration of Art Deco, marking 100 years since the birth of the movement in the city. The Art Deco Year 2025 promises to showcase and promote Brussels' exceptional heritage and reclaim a part of its collective history.

The Design Museum Brussels is kicking off the festivities with an exhibition featuring Art Deco furniture, lighting, textiles, and interior decoration from the estate of René Baucher and Sylvie Feron. The museum will also host "Opalescents," a display of over 100 opaline glass creations from the Philippe Decelle collection at Marinus Centre.

Several iconic buildings, including the Flagey Building, Villa Empain, van Buuren Museum and Gardens, Tenaerts House, Riez House, UGC de Brouckère, Forest Town Hall, the House of European History, the Basilica of Koekelberg, Sainte-Suzanne Church in Schaerbeek, will be open to the public year-round. The House of European History and the Basilica of Koekelberg will shed new light on their Art Deco magic during Art Deco Year 2025.

The Brussels Art Nouveau Art Deco Festival (BANAD Festival) will take place from March 15 to 30, with a schedule 90% dedicated to Art Deco buildings. The festival will feature numerous "never-before-seen" locations, providing visitors with an exclusive glimpse into Brussels' Art Deco past.

In addition to the exhibitions and open buildings, a programme of conferences, guided tours, and Heritage Days organised by urban.brussels will take place, themed around "Art Deco - Roaring Twenties, Crashing Thirties." The focus on Art Deco is a follow-up to the successful Art Nouveau Year 2023, which brought over two million visitors to Brussels.

Numerous guide associations, such as Pro Vélo, ARAU, Arkadia, Korei, Bruxelles Bavard, Itinéraires, Brussels Art Deco Society, Explore Brussels, will conceive tours for Art Deco Year 2025. A major exhibition featuring Art Deco Cinemas in Brussels is taking place at the Halles Saint-Gery.

The Art Deco Year 2025 has been officially declared in Brussels, and municipal partners in Anderlecht, Schaerbeek, Forest, Ixelles, and the City of Brussels will present a rich and varied offering throughout 2025.

A focus on the posters and magazines of the Art Deco age is featured at Autrique House. Unfortunately, specific partners for conferences on Art Deco in collaboration with the National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg, outside of Brussels, are not provided in the available information.
