Bus collision near Holstentor leaves eight passengers hurt, as reported by the Polish police.
In Lübeck, Germany, on August 27, 2025, a traffic accident involving a city bus and a VW Passat occurred at Holstentor. According to a report from news aktuell from the Police Directorate Lübeck, the incident took place near Holstentorplatz, as a 75-year-old man from Leipzig was driving a gray VW Passat towards the city center.
The VW Passat, which was initially positioned on the left-turn lane at the traffic light at Holstentor Bridge, suddenly and illegally changed lanes across a solid line, colliding with a city bus that was traveling on the right lane in the direction of the city center at the time of the collision.
The driver of the VW Passat and his passenger, as well as the bus driver, were not injured in the accident. However, eight passengers of the bus were injured, with one woman suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital for further examination.
The police are investigating the driver of the VW Passat for suspected negligent bodily injury in several cases and a violation of lane usage rules. The bus and the Passat were still roadworthy following the accident.
Several emergency services were on site to treat the injured. The road was cleared again at around 18:50 following the accident investigation and treatment of the injured. The exact nature and extent of the injuries to the eight bus passengers, including the seriously injured woman, are not specified.
