Busted in the Act
On the evening of Tuesday, August 19th, at approximately 11:45 PM, a suspicious incident unfolded at Euskirchen station's bike rack area. Police officers found a 45-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman attempting to remove locks from a bicycle and an e-scooter.
Upon being approached by the police, the pair fled. The woman ended her getaway on Alleestraße, while the man hid in some bushes on Hochstraße after fleeing from the authorities.
No damages were found on the bicycles or the e-scooter after the incident. A backpack containing bolt cutters was found on the man, but he claimed it wasn't his when asked by the police.
Both individuals involved in the incident were given a ban from the premises of Euskirchen station's bike rack area. The woman stopped on Alleestraße, and the man was later found and checked by the police in the bushes on Hochstraße.
It is important to note that the perpetrators who tried to steal a bicycle and an e-scooter in the past near Euskirchen station are not specifically identified by name. However, an incident near a station on September 9th, 2025, involved two suspects, a 21-year-old from Lengerich and a 17-year-old from Münster, both known to the police, who attempted a bicycle theft and threatened a witness with a knife before fleeing. It remains unclear if this incident is directly related to Euskirchen station or another station nearby.
The tools and backpack, including the bolt cutters, were confiscated by the police. The objects involved in the incident did not sustain any damage.
This incident serves as a reminder for everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. Euskirchen station and its surrounding areas continue to be a safe place for commuters and cyclists.
