Borussia Dortmund's women's football team secured a 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB-Pokals playoff match, held at the Stadion Rote Erde.

The match started with Dortmund dominating the early stages, setting the tone for the game. Coach Markus Högner, in his DFB-Pokal debut, was pleased with his team's performance, praising their effort and fighting spirit.

Dortmund took the lead immediately after Gladbach's best chance, with Ronja Leubner scoring from six meters. However, Gladbach showed good play during a phase in the first half, with Miray Cin being a standout player.

Coach Högner acknowledged Gladbach's efforts, but was disappointed with his team's finishing. Annika Enderle had the best chance to extend Dortmund's lead in the 55th minute, but was dispossessed by the keeper. Flaka Aslanaj also had a shot on goal for Gladbach in the 85th minute, but only hit the net.

Dortmund's second goal came in the 69th minute, with Enderle chipping the ball over the keeper after a pass from Leubner. Marquardt scored the final goal for Dortmund in the 86th minute, heading in a cross from the right flank from Steenwijk.

Marquardt expressed relief at scoring after missing her penalty but also stated that Dortmund could have scored more goals. Jenske Steenwijk inadvertently set up the equalizer for Gladbach in the 76th minute by clearing a ball into the path of Miriam Arici.

Coach Högner praised the team's stability and compactness during the match, highlighting their ability to maintain control despite Gladbach's efforts. BVB striker Dana Marquardt expressed satisfaction with the victory, while also acknowledging the areas that need improvement in the team's finishing.

The victory marks a successful start for coach Högner in his tenure at Dortmund, and the team will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
