Caitlin Clark's health status: Beckons-Mason's key player continues to sit out Friday's pivotal game against the Sparks due to ongoing health concerns.

The Indiana Fever, currently in sixth place in the WNBA playoff picture, are facing an uncertain future due to the ongoing injury of star player Caitlin Clark. Clark has been sidelined with a right groin injury and will miss the game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday.

Clark's injury came late in the Fever's win over the Connecticut Sun on July 15, and since then, she has been on injury pause. The medical team has been closely monitoring her recovery, and no official return timeline has been announced yet. Before she can play again, Clark must demonstrate full recovery and meet the team's health standards to be cleared for game practice.

Prior to her injury, Clark had struggled to find her form on the court this season. Her shooting slump and poor percentages were evident, as she was 2 of 35 from downtown on the road this season. Despite these struggles, Clark was still averaging 16.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, which are second in the league.

The Fever have been feeling the impact of Clark's absence, as they are 12-13 without her compared to 8-5 with her in the lineup. The team has also lost key players Sydney Colson (torn ACL), Aari McDonald (broken foot), and Sophie Cunningham (torn MCL) for the remainder of the season.

Fever coach Stephanie White has stated that "the hope" is for Clark to return before the end of the regular season, but it remains unclear if she will be cleared at any time before the season comes to a close on Sept. 11. White has detailed what she needs to see from Clark before putting her back on the floor, including live practice, handling contact, and sustaining endurance.

The Fever are currently alone in sixth place, but are percentage points ahead of the seventh-place Seattle Storm and a half-game up on the eighth-place Valkyries. The team has just five games remaining, and every game counts as they fight for a playoff spot.

Despite the challenges, the Fever are staying optimistic about Clark's return. Clark has not missed a game due to injury since high school, and the team is hoping that her streak will continue. In the meantime, they will continue to push forward and fight for every win.
