Campbell County solicits public opinions on their comprehensive plan during community open houses scheduled for September 9 and 10

Campbell County is inviting its residents to have their say in the county's growth and development over the next 20 years. Cindy Minter, AICP, the director of the Campbell County Planning, Zoning and Building Department, is leading the charge with the update of the Campbell County and Municipal Comprehensive Plans.

The comprehensive plan, once finalised, will guide the county's development, focusing on areas such as land use, housing, transportation, economic development, and quality of life. The guiding principles for the plan support diverse housing choices, public-private partnerships, protecting property rights, fostering community engagement, strengthening education and workforce development, enhancing recreational opportunities, and developing a safe, sustainable transportation system.

The open houses, scheduled for September 9 (4-8 p.m.) and September 10 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.), will be held at the Campbell County Fiscal Court Chambers, located at 1098 Monmouth Street in Newport. These events are an opportunity for residents to review the draft plan, provide feedback, and help shape the future of Campbell County.

The draft materials include updated goals and objectives that focus on housing, public health and safety, cultural and recreational facilities, economic development, infrastructure, agriculture, and land use. The update covers unincorporated Campbell County as well as the cities of Crestview, Southgate, Silver Grove, Melbourne, and Woodlawn.

Minter emphasised the importance of these meetings, stating that they are a crucial opportunity for residents to help shape the future of Campbell County. She added that the input from residents ensures this plan reflects the community's values and priorities.

The Campbell County Comprehensive Plan website is a source for more information and draft documents related to the open houses. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide input, as their voices are essential in shaping the county's future. The Campbell County Fiscal Court is also involved in the hosting of the open houses.

So, if you're a resident of Campbell County and want to have your say in the county's growth and development, mark your calendars for September 9 or 10 and head to the Campbell County Fiscal Court Chambers. Your input could make a significant difference in the future of Campbell County.
