Paula Schneider Discusses "Love Stays Strong" at Old Town Books

On September 3, Paula Schneider, the CEO of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, will be discussing her new children's book, "Love Stays Strong," at Old Town Books. The event, which takes place at 130 S Royal St, will begin at 7 p.m.

"Love Stays Strong" addresses the challenging topic of navigating serious illness within families, with a mother explaining her changing body and health condition to her child. According to promotional materials, the book is a beautiful text that all families facing serious illness can relate to.

Schneider wrote the book drawing from her personal experience as a cancer survivor who also lost her mother to metastatic breast cancer. The book aims to provide comfort and guidance while reassuring children that family love remains constant despite life's challenges.

Illustrations for the book were created by Nicole Wong, whose family was also affected by cancer. The book is designed to help children understand and cope with the changes their family may be experiencing due to a serious illness.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, which can be found online at komen.org, has invested over $3.6 billion in breast cancer research, advocacy, and patient support since 1982. Their investments have helped reduce the breast cancer mortality rate by 44%.

Review copies of "Love Stays Strong" are available upon request. For more information and updates about the event, click here. Additional event details can be found through Old Town Books.

Net proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Karin Purugganan, a licensed professional counselor in Alexandria, will also be present at the event.
