The 6-year-old Belgian Malinois/German shepherd mix from Hungary had been serving with the department since 2020, working alongside his handler in multiple operations to keep drugs and dangerous contraband off the streets.

The investigation was prompted by the discovery that K-9 Archer was left unattended in a police vehicle in West Hawaii for an unacceptable amount of time.
