Car accident on the A1 results in vehicle overturning, causing injuries to the two passengers involved
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, a car accident occurred on the A1 motorway heading towards Hagen. The incident took place in the median of the motorway, and the car involved in the accident flipped over and landed on its side.
Emergency services, including the fire department and paramedics, were quickly on the scene. The fire department, comprising members from the Feuerwehr Schwelm, including the Löschzug Linderhausen, Löschzug Stadt, the professional fire crew (hauptamtliche Wachbesatzung), and the Einsatzführungsdienst, responded to the incident. In total, about 25 firefighters and eight fire and rescue vehicles were involved.
Upon arrival, the fire department ensured fire protection at the accident site, stabilised the vehicle to prevent further tipping, and contained any leaking fluids from the car. They also disconnected the battery of the car to ensure safety. On-site medical treatment was provided to the two occupants of the car, and they were then transported to nearby hospitals. No information is available on the severity of their injuries.
The Schwelm fire department also secured the scene against traffic flow, and the accident was secured by firefighters and police. After completing their tasks, the fire department handed the scene over to the police. The operation was concluded after a short period.
