Car aficionado sets sights on IAA 2025, detailing eight compelling reasons for attendance
The city of Munich is once again playing host to the International Automobile Exhibition (IAA Mobility), one of the most significant mobility shows in the world. From September 9 to 14, 2025, the event will showcase the latest innovations in the automotive industry, with a particular focus on electric vehicles (EVs).
Volkswagen (VW) is set to make a strong showing at IAA Mobility, presenting two premieres. The first is the VW ID.2 X, an electric SUV built on the new technology platform "Neue Klasse." With a likely range of around 400 kilometers, the ID.2 X is poised to offer an impressive driving experience. VW's other premiere is the second generation of the compact SUV T-Roc, also built on the "Neue Klasse" platform.
Mercedes is also joining the electric revolution with the presentation of the GLC with EQ technology, a compact electric car in SUV format. The GLC is said to boast a range of up to 700 kilometers, making it a formidable contender in the EV market.
BMW is using the IAA Mobility event to unveil the new electric compact SUV iX3. The iX3 is the first vehicle to be built on the newly developed technology platform "Neue Klasse," and it can be charged at a fast-charging station with up to 400 kW. According to rumours, the new BMW iX3 may even have a range of up to 800 kilometers.
South Korea's Kia is making a big splash in Munich this year, unveiling several new vehicles. Among them is the compact Kia EV4 with a range of up to 630 kilometers, the SUV Kia EV5 with a range of 530 kilometers, the electric van PV5 with a range of 400 kilometers, and the small SUV concept vehicle EV2. Kia showcased the PV5 transporter model among other electric vehicles at the event.
The Spanish VW brand Cupra will present a new electric limousine study called Tindaya at IAA Mobility. The Tindaya is intended to serve as a design ambassador for the brand's new design language.
Moreover, Mercedes is also presenting a new electric vehicle at the IAA Mobility event, the GLC with EQ technology.
China is also making its presence felt at IAA Mobility, with more than a hundred companies from the country participating. The Chinese conglomerate GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) is attempting to make a splash in Europe with its Aion brand and two electric compact models, the Aion UT and Aion V. Both models have ranges of up to 430 and 420 kilometers respectively.
Finally, the Czech VW brand Škoda will present a study at IAA Mobility: the Škoda Vision O, a look at an electric station wagon that the brand plans to add to its portfolio in the future.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, IAA Mobility 2025 promises to be an exciting showcase of the latest advancements in electric vehicles. With so many innovative new models on display, it's clear that the future of transportation is electric.
