Car chase in Oberkassel leads to collision, causing minor injuries to four individuals - Investigative team for traffic accidents on site, collecting blood samples.

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2:45 AM, an accident occurred in the Rhine-Alley Tunnel in Düsseldorf. The incident involved two VW Golfs and five individuals.

According to preliminary investigations, the drivers were braking and overtaking each other during the drive on the A52. The accident occurred when the 33-year-old resident of Bonn, rear-ended the 22-year-old Dutch national.

The Bonn resident was unharmed in the accident, but indications at the scene suggested that both drivers were under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Blood samples were taken from both drivers for further analysis.

The Dutch driver and front passenger received outpatient treatment at the hospital after the accident. The three passengers in the Dutch driver's car were slightly injured. The vehicles involved in the accident were impounded.

The traffic accident response team secured the accident scene, and the affected police officers or investigators conducting the accident investigation have not been publicly named.

The Dutch driver's Golf had three other occupants. The cars noticeably slowed down to a stop and then accelerated sharply before the accident. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The authorities urge all road users to drive responsibly and to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
