Accident at Berliner Straße Intersection in Hagen-Haspe
On Monday, September 1, 2025, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Berliner Straße in Hagen-Haspe, involving two vehicles: a Renault and a VW.
The incident took place around 5 pm, with the Renault, driven by a 52-year-old individual heading towards Hagen-Mitte, entering the intersection from the left of the VW, which was being driven down the Höherstraße by an 18-year-old. Despite applying full brakes, the two vehicles collided head-on at the entrance to the Höherstraße.
The collision resulted in severe damage to both vehicles, necessitating their removal from the scene by tow trucks. Regrettably, an 18-year-old passenger in the VW sustained minor injuries.
An independent witness reported observing the Renault attempting to make it through the intersection while the light was red. The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident, including an allegation that the Renault driver disregarded the traffic light as it turned from yellow to red and increased his speed.
The traffic division has taken over the further investigation of the accident. The police are also yet to release the name of the independent witness who observed the traffic violation by the Renault driver.
The authorities are urging all road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
