Car crash on A31 highway results in 10 people being hurt
In an unfortunate incident, a traffic accident occurred on Sunday evening at 18:20 on the A31 in the direction of Bottrop, between the Gladbeck exit and the Bottrop interchange. The accident involved two cars, one of which overturned and landed on its roof.
The A31 was fully closed during the operation as a result of the accident. The Fire Department Bottrop, along with approximately 40 personnel from the professional fire brigade and the voluntary fire brigade Kirchhellen, were on site to manage the situation.
Contrary to initial reports, no one was trapped in the vehicles. A total of ten people were injured, one of them seriously. The fire department called a "mass casualty incident" code and requested rescue resources from Oberhausen, Dorsten, and Gladbeck to assist.
The voluntary fire brigade Altstadt ensured basic protection for the rest of the city during the operation. The operation ended for the fire department around 20:00, after which the police took over the site to investigate the cause of the accident.
