Car fire on B236 highway - Emergency services from Bremen manage to contain the situation and prevent a more severe incident

In the morning of 11:06 AM, a vehicle fire broke out on the B236 towards Lünen, causing significant traffic congestion. The Dortmund Fire Department, along with three fire trucks from Bremen who were in Dortmund for an exchange program, swiftly responded to the incident.

Upon arrival, a tow truck was found on fire, with the blaze starting in the engine compartment. The Dortmund Fire Department dispatched personnel from Fire Stations 6 (Scharnhorst) and 2 (Eving), as well as the rescue service, to the scene.

The Bremen firefighters' swift intervention helped quickly contain the fire. They used the Tank-Water-Foam roll container from Fire Station 2, which carries an additional 5000 liters of water, to help extinguish the fire.

The occupants of the affected vehicle were able to exit safely. However, proper rescue lanes were not formed and maintained during the incident, adding to the traffic congestion.

The Dortmund Fire Department expresses its gratitude towards the firefighters from Bremen for their quick and professional response. Around 20 personnel were on the scene for approximately 90 minutes.

Unfortunately, the search results do not provide information about specific firefighters who extinguished the car fire in Dortmund before the Dortmund fire department arrived, nor the exact time period they were in Dortmund at the time. The Fire Department Dortmund Press Office can be reached for additional details.

It is worth noting that no passing truck drivers stopped to help extinguish the fire before the Bremen firefighters arrived.

The incident serves as a reminder of the crucial role firefighters play in our communities and the importance of being prepared in case of emergencies.
