Car thief under pursuit by Minneapolis police officials ends up causing a fatal crash, claiming the lives of two women and wounding a child.
In a shocking turn of events in Minneapolis, a 45-year-old man from St. Paul was arrested following a chaotic carjacking and subsequent fatal crash on Thursday morning.
The incident began when the suspect carjacked a woman in a black Volkswagen at gunpoint. He then fled the scene, leading police on a high-speed chase in a maroon Ford Explorer.
During the pursuit, the suspect displayed reckless driving behaviour, swerving into oncoming traffic and driving on sidewalks. This dangerous driving ultimately resulted in a collision at a busy north Minneapolis intersection.
The crash tragically claimed the lives of two women, both 25 years old, who were identified as Marisa Ardys Casebolt and Liberty Borg. A child was also injured in the accident.
The suspect was arrested at the crash scene and is currently receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A gun was recovered from the stolen vehicle.
It is worth noting that the suspect's identity, as of now, is not publicly disclosed in the available search results.
Interestingly, no police squad cars were involved in the collision, and the squad pursuing the suspect was "fully-marked."
Two of the suspect's dogs were injured in the crash, and one had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangerous consequences of reckless behaviour and the importance of public safety. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
