Carriage driving skills shine for Lady Louise, carrying forward the legacy of Prince Philip
Lady Louise, the 21-year-old only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, competed at the British Carriage Driving National Championships in Essex on Friday. The event took place at the Ashfields Carriage and Polo Club near Great Dunmow.
Lady Louise's passion for carriage driving stems from her late grandfather, Prince Philip, who transformed the activity into one of his lifelong pastimes at the royal estate. This talent was evident as she showcased her advanced skills during the competition, displaying a balance of calm and intense focus.
Her participation in the championships was made possible by the wheeled carriage she inherited from her late grandfather, Prince Philip, following his death in April 2021. This carriage was bequeathed to her by her father, Prince Edward.
Lady Louise has been active in extracurricular activities and has demonstrated extraordinary talent on numerous occasions. In 2019, she secured a place in the Private Driving Singles category at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, with Prince Philip watching proudly from the sidelines.
Currently, Lady Louise is studying for an English degree at a prestigious Scottish university and is preparing to begin her fourth and final year at St Andrews. Despite her busy academic schedule, she has managed to maintain her commitment to carriage driving.
This year, Lady Louise attended the British Carriage Driving National Championships without her parents, who are currently at Balmoral with other members of the Royal Family. Nonetheless, her performance was a testament to the skill and dedication she has developed over the years.
Prince Philip was a champion of equestrian activities for decades, and it seems that his legacy continues to inspire Lady Louise. As she continues to excel in carriage driving, she carries on her grandfather's passion and love for the sport.
