Cars Slip into Traffic due to Aquaplaning Incidents
On August 30, 2025, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on the L776 near Salzkotten at approximately 1:40 PM. The accident involved a total of five vehicles: a Mercedes-Benz, two Kias, and a Skoda.
The Mercedes-Benz, driven by a 20-year-old from Büren and accompanied by a 19-year-old passenger from the B1, hydroplaned due to heavy rain and spun into oncoming traffic. The Mercedes-Benz first collided with an oncoming Kia from Luxembourg, driven by a 29-year-old man who was uninjured.
The Mercedes-Benz then hit an oncoming Skoda from the Lippe district, which was occupied by five people. The 30-year-old driver of the Skoda and two other passengers, aged 18 and 20, as well as a 16-year-old passenger, were all lightly injured. Another Kia driver from Büren was also lightly injured.
A 17-year-old passenger from Blomberg was severely injured and initially thought to be in critical condition. The name of the driver of the Skoda involved in the accident is not disclosed in the available reports.
The accident site was closed for investigation until around 5:20 PM, with the Paderborn County Police's traffic accident investigation team investigating the incident. The injured were taken to hospitals by ambulance.
