In a significant boost for the state's economy, Kansas's casinos reported impressive revenue figures for August 2024. The Kansas Crossing Casino & Resort and Hollywood Casino & Resort, both popular destinations, saw a rise in their earnings compared to the same month last year.
The Kansas Crossing Casino & Resort reported a revenue of $3.5 million in August 2024, marking an increase from $3.2 million the previous year. Slot play at the casino generated $3.2 million, while table games contributed $258,449. The casino also contributed $70,042 to problem gambling funds and $105,063 to local jurisdictions.
On the other hand, the Hollywood Casino & Resort, operated by Penn Entertainment, Inc., recorded a revenue of $15.1 million in August 2024, an increase from $14.5 million the previous year. Slots at the casino produced $13.4 million in revenue, and table games generated $1.6 million. The casino also contributed $301,416 to problem gambling initiatives and $452,124 to local governments, with the United States receiving $3.3 million.
Statewide, electronic gaming machines accounted for over 85% of total casino revenue in August 2024. While table games, though a smaller contributor, still played an important role in casino revenue. Kansas Star Casino & Resort, for instance, reported table games revenue of $1.7 million, and Kansas Crossing Casino & Resort earned $292,719 from problem gambling programs, both of which were dedicated to funding problem gambling initiatives in Kansas.
The United States received a combined total of $6.44 million from both casinos in August 2024. The Kansas Star Casino & Resort contributed $3.22 million, and Hollywood Casino & Resort added $3.3 million to the United States' coffers. Local governments also benefited from the casinos' success, with the Kansas Star Casino & Resort contributing $439,078 and Hollywood Casino & Resort contributing $452,124.
The increased revenues at both casinos are a positive sign for Kansas's economy and the gaming industry. As more tourists visit the state, the casinos continue to provide entertainment and contribute significantly to the United States' economy.
