Catastrophic Car Collision: Deadly Road Traffic Mishap
In an unfortunate incident, a traffic accident occurred on the A4 highway near the Apolda interchange last Saturday. According to news aktuell and the Autobahn Police Station, the accident involved a Mercedes and a VW.
The Mercedes, travelling on the Dresden-bound lane, lost control and collided with the central safety barrier just before the Apolda interchange. This impact caused parts of the barrier to dislodge and fly into the opposite lane.
One of these dislodged barrier parts penetrated the windshield of a VW, resulting in fatal injuries to a 75-year-old passenger. The VW driver, a 74-year-old individual, and the Mercedes' 52-year-old passenger were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
As a result of the accident, both the Dresden-bound and Frankfurt-bound lanes were closed for approximately three hours on the Dresden-bound lane and one hour on the Frankfurt-bound lane. The estimated property damage is reported to be 80,000.
