Cautious forecast for MiTAC's second half performance
In a telephone conversation with the Taipei Times, a company official from MiTAC Holdings communicated updates about the company's performance and future plans. The article, penned by Meryl Kao, a staff reporter, revealed that MiTAC Computing manufactures servers, storage devices, and industrial computers, with a focus on artificial intelligence of things, mobility products, telematics, in-vehicle computers, and related software.
MiTAC Holdings Corp (神達控股) reported a 121% year-on-year increase in revenue for the first half of the year, totaling NT$50.29 billion (US$1.67 billion). Server demand came from hyperscalers and cloud service providers, contributing to an 89.5% share of the company's total revenue in the first half, with an annual increase of 144.9%.
However, the official expressed concern about the appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar against the US dollar. Despite this, the company's Q2 revenue was not affected by foreign-exchange losses. The official also noted the uncertainties from US tariffs, expressing caution about potential impacts.
In response to the growing demand, MiTAC is expanding its production capabilities. The company operates a plant in Baoshan Township, Hsinchu County, and the plant in Jhunan Township, Miaoli County, is set to begin mass production next month. Additionally, two new plants are being built in California for the production of liquid cooling racks. Pilot runs at the US facilities are expected later this year, with mass production scheduled to start as early as Q1 next year.
The official stated that the company is optimistic about revenue in the second half of the year, despite the challenges. Notably, Intel and Cooler Master are also building new factories in California for the production of liquid-cooling rack systems, with pilot runs in the US facilities expected in 2025.
