CDU's Bernd Siggelkow Challenges SPD's Iris Spranger in Berlin Election

Bernd Siggelkow, founder of the social project 'Arche', will represent the CDU in the upcoming Berlin House of Representatives election on 20th September 2026. He will challenge the incumbent SPD Senator of the Interior, Iris Spranger, in the Marzahn-Mitte constituency.

Siggelkow, who joined the CDU in November 2024, is known for his commitment to fighting child poverty and advocating for better education and equal opportunities. The Marzahn CDU has welcomed his candidacy, appreciating his focus on addressing people's concerns.

Siggelkow's decision to run for the CDU was driven by his desire to represent a party of the democratic center with few compromises on his views. He has been dedicated to these causes for over three decades, founding the 'Arche' project, which is headquartered in the Marzahn district where he will run for election.

The Marzahn-Mitte constituency is expected to be a closely contested race, with the AfD having achieved 20.4 percent in the 2023 election. Siggelkow's strong local ties and commitment to social causes could make him a formidable opponent for the incumbent SPD Senator Iris Spranger.
