Celebrating Valentine's Day with a Touch of Bubbly Experiments
Get ready for a fun and educational Valentine's Day with our printable STEM project pack! This pack is filled with over 20 activities, including science Valentine's Day cards, designed to count down to the big day with engaging science and STEM activities.
One of the activities we're excited about is "Bubble Valentines", a project that encourages a love of science and curiosity in how things work. This activity is suitable for young scientists and is perfect for preschoolers who love exploring the world around them.
To create your own Bubble Valentines, you'll need a simple homemade bubble solution. Mix 1/2 Cup Light Corn Syrup, 3 cups Water, and 1 Cup Dish soap. Stir until the solution is smooth, and you're ready to blow bubbles!
Bubbles, as you might know, are formed by a thin wall of soapy film filled with air, similar to a balloon. But there's more to bubbles than meets the eye! For instance, when bubbles of different sizes meet, one will become a bulge onto the larger bubble. When bubbles of similar size meet, they merge together to create the least possible surface area. And as more bubbles are created, they may start to form hexagons!
To enhance the Valentine's Day theme, add heart-shaped cookie cutters and red paper straws to your bubble solution. You can also ask your little ones several questions to encourage experimentation with the bubble solution, such as using cookie cutters, straws, and attempting to make a bubble tower or hold a bubble without it popping.
The "Bubble Theme for Preschool Science Fun!" video, published by The Kiboomers - Kids Songs and Nursery Rhymes, is a great resource for showing the fun side of science.
But that's not all! Our article also provides a free printable Valentine STEM calendar and cards, and we suggest additional bubble activities like 3D bubble shapes, geometric shape bubbles, freezing bubbles in winter, bubble science experiments, and bubble painting.
So, gather your materials, and let's dive into the world of bubbles this Valentine's Day! Explore science through play with our Bubble Valentines activity, and who knows, you might just discover some new scientific facts along the way!
