Celebration in the Netherlands honoring individuals with red hair

This weekend, the Netherlands is living up to its nickname as the kingdom of orange, but with a twist. The annual redhead gathering is taking place, bringing together thousands of people with red hair from all over the world.

The festival, which has been happening for the past twenty years, has a fair-like atmosphere, featuring acrobats, painters, and singers. One of the organisers, Cyril Chaumont, an amateur photographer who specialises in redheads, said finding redheads with extraordinary colours is almost an obsession for him.

Interestingly, redheads make up only 2% of the world's population, a fact that is not lost on the participants. However, the festival is not to be taken too seriously and is often a source of laughter.

Two French sisters, Jeanne de Chauliac and an unnamed companion, have arrived from Paris for the gathering. Jeanne, who believes she is a mix of blonde and red, is excited to attend the event and do some shopping, including a mascara with red highlights.

The redhead gathering offers a unique opportunity for participants to become "top models" and be part of the festival's group photo, which grows each year. Last year, nearly 5,000 people attended the event, and this year, the organisers are expecting a similar turnout.

The festival is an international gathering, with redheads from all corners of the globe coming together to celebrate their shared trait. The amateur photographers who perform at this festival every year and specialise in Little Red Riding Hood are not publicly specified, but their work is sure to be a highlight of the event.

The redhead gathering is a celebration for people with red hair, and it is clear that the participants take great pride in their unique feature. With the Netherlands' orange nickname particularly fitting this weekend, the festival is sure to be a memorable event for all involved.
