Celebratory Duo Marking Anniversary

Fifty years ago, in a small town, the lives of Geeta and Padmaballav intertwined in an unusual way. Their meeting, sprouted over a neighbour's gathering, was the beginning of a beautiful love story.

Their wedding ceremony was a unique affair, overseen by Goddess Budhithakurani from her hilly shrine. The couple, hailing from different tribal localities with distinct customs and cuisines, managed to blend their traditions seamlessly.

The bridal procession, though short, was filled with joy and anticipation. Geeta, unlike many brides, avoided the tradition of a waist-bent walk with heavy ornamentation and long veils covering the face. This modern approach was a testament to her independent spirit.

On the 14th of July, 1975, the marriage was fixed. Padmaballav, captivated by Geeta's innate divinity and devoid of any vice, chose her as his bride. The marriage was a union of a bachelor and a spinster, marking the start of their half-century journey.

The bridal party enjoyed a sumptuous lunch of fish and sweets before setting off to the neighbouring quarter instead of traveling from Nayagarha to Talcher. Some kith and kin, especially of the older generation, longed to get the treat from Geeta, the daughter-in-law.

After seven days of their union, Padmanav took Gita with his parents and sisters to Jharsugda, his service station. Despite being born and raised in different environments, the couple never got tainted by the atrocities of frowning realities. They exhibited exemplary conjugal harmony, thwarting many adversities.

The couple is highly respected and admired by their acquaintances of six decades and above, who believe in the values of true love that the couple embodies. They have enjoyed the feel of true love's evolution from a scratch to its crest.

The parents of Gitanjali and Padmaballav are not publicly documented or widely known. However, their influence on their children's lives is evident in the strong bond that Geeta and Padmaballav share.

As they celebrate their Jubilee, their story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many. Their half-century journey is a testament to the power of love and the strength of character in overcoming adversities.
