Championship clash: Stuttgart Surge squares off against Vienna Vikings
Stuttgart Surge Advance to ELF Championship Game
The Stuttgart Surge have booked their place in the European League of Football (ELF) Championship Game 2025, following a hard-fought victory over their opponents in the semi-finals.
In a game that promised to be a football extravaganza, Stuttgart Surge quickly took control, thanks to a standout performance from cornerback Ben Wenzler. Wenzler recorded three sacks, an interception, and strong tackles throughout the match. Quarterback Reilly Hennessey also shone, with over 250 passing yards and a completion percentage over 60%.
The first half saw Stuttgart Surge take a 14:7 lead into the break, and in the second half, they extended their advantage to secure a 27:13 win. Head coach Jordan Neuman praised his team after the victory, saying, "The boys showed great determination and resilience today. I'm incredibly proud of their effort."
Stuttgart Surge will now face the Vienna Vikings in the final, a team they will be familiar with, having lost to them in last year's final. The Vikings, who are the champions of 2022, will be aiming to reclaim the throne, while Stuttgart Surge will be looking to avenge their defeat and lift the trophy in front of their home crowd.
The final will take place at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart on September 7, 2025. Approximately 500 fans attended the game in Unterhaching, creating a lively atmosphere, and Stuttgart Surge will be hoping for a similar turnout in their home city.
Stuttgart Surge have yet to claim the title, but they will be entering the final with confidence after their impressive performance in the semi-finals. The final promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of the top teams in the league, and football fans are in for a treat.
