Changes in DAX family index for September: analyzing fluctuations and variations
The German stock market is set for a significant shake-up, with several companies moving between indices in a major adjustment scheduled for September 22.
Porsche AG, the luxury car manufacturer, is one of the most high-profile companies making a move. Facing significant sales problems, Porsche AG has been relegated from the prestigious DAX index to the MDAX. Over the past 12 months, the company's stock has lost around a third of its value.
However, this isn't the end of the road for Porsche AG. The company, which trades under the WKN code PAG911, will join the MDAX alongside Sartorius AG, another company making a move. Sartorius AG, a biotech company, is leaving the DAX and moving to the MDAX after just over a year in the leading index.
Sartorius AG, with the WKN code 716563, has been part of the DAX since September 2021. Its departure from the DAX opens up a spot for another company to take its place.
Telecommunications company 1&1 is one such company. It is joining the SDAX, replacing biosimilar developer Formycon. However, 1&1 is not stopping there. It is also replacing another company, GEA, in the TecDAX. GEA, a technology group specialising in food processing, is moving up from the MDAX to the DAX.
The GEA Group, with the WKN code A1Z966, is not the only company moving up. Scout24, an online classifieds company, is also making the jump from the MDAX to the DAX. However, Scout24 is moving in the opposite direction as well, leaving the DAX and moving to the MDAX.
The optician chain Fielmann (WKN: 577220) is also involved in changes. It is moving up from the SDAX to the MDAX. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall, a defence and automotive company, is entering certain indices.
These changes mark the third major index adjustment this year for the DAX family. With several high-profile companies moving between indices, the stock market is sure to experience some interesting developments in the coming days.
