Child discovered in garage, who had been reported missing at 10 years old.

In a heartening development, a 10-year-old autistic boy was found safe and sound in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, on Saturday morning. The boy, who is of Ukrainian origin and lives in the Wendessen district, had been missing since leaving his home on Friday evening around 6:30 PM.

The large-scale search operation, which involved a helicopter, several search dogs, and drone teams equipped with thermal imaging cameras, took place throughout the night and into the morning. The search was initiated after the boy's disappearance caused a night of worry for the town.

The circumstances of the 10-year-old boy's disappearance are still under investigation by the police. The search operation brought back memories of the case of six-year-old Arian from Bremervörde, who went missing from his home in April 2024. The search for Arian was unprecedented in its scale and tailored to the needs of an autistic child.

Arian's body was found in late June 2024, just a few kilometers from his home, with no signs of foul play. The police expressed their gratitude to the numerous volunteers who participated in the search operation for Arian.

Interestingly, the boy found in Wolfenbüttel and Arian are both of Ukrainian origin and both live or lived in the Wendessen district. Some false reports of missing persons in the region on social media caused confusion during the search operation for the 10-year-old boy.

Initial assessments suggest that the boy was unharmed during his time away from home. The police spokesperson confirmed the boy's discovery, expressing relief and gratitude for the successful conclusion of the search operation. The police are responsible for investigating the circumstances of the disappearance of the 10-year-old autistic boy from Wendessen.

The police thank the public for their support and cooperation during the search operation. They urge everyone to verify information before sharing it on social media to avoid causing unnecessary confusion and distress.
