China's leading tech company's hybrid electric vehicle, boasting a remarkable 950-mile range, has attained an impressive 93.7% score in crash tests.

The Huawei Aito M8 EREV has made a significant impact in the Chinese automotive market, securing the title of the safest car under the 2024 standards. The full-size new energy crossover, developed in partnership with Seres, has achieved an impressive score of 93.7% in the latest C-NCAP crash and safety evaluation, earning it the prestigious "five stars +" grade.

The C-NCAP program, run by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), assesses vehicles across multiple categories, including protection for occupants, safety of vulnerable road users, and advanced driver assistance systems. In occupant protection, the Aito M8 EREV scored an impressive 93.7%, surpassing the average by a significant margin. The vehicle also excelled in protecting vulnerable road users, scoring 86.03%.

The Aito M8's Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) and lighting systems were rated nearly flawless, demonstrating the vehicle's commitment to safety in real-world conditions. During real collision tests, the Aito M8 earned 83.3 points out of a possible 88.

In the Active Safety category, the entry-level six-seat EREV version of the Aito M8 excelled, scoring 96.34%. This is nearly 10% above the average of tested cars, showcasing the vehicle's advanced safety features.

The Aito M8 outperformed the Xiaomi SU7 sedan in the C-NCAP safety evaluation, scoring 93.7% compared to the SU7's 93.5%. The top five cars in China's 2024 C-NCAP safety tests include the Aito M8 EREV, Xiaomi SU7, Zeekr Mix, Mazda EZ-6, and the Li Auto L6.

The Aito M8 EREV is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing a peak output of 526 hp (392 kW). The vehicle comes with either a 37 kWh LFP battery or a 53.4 kWh ternary NMC battery, offering an estimated range of 125 miles and 193 miles, respectively, under the CLTC cycle.

Since its market debut in April 2025, more than 56,000 units of the Huawei Aito M8 have been delivered, reflecting the vehicle's popularity and the demand for safe and efficient electric vehicles. The Aito M8 is a testament to the advancements in automotive technology and safety, setting a new benchmark for the industry in China.
