Christian Hahn's Journey Beyond the CEO Role: Exploring Personal and Leadership Development

CEO Christian Hahn Leads Hubject in Revolutionizing Global Electric Vehicle Charging

In a rapidly evolving world of electric vehicles (EVs), Hubject, a pioneering company in the e-roaming industry, is making significant strides under the leadership of CEO Christian Hahn. Operating across Europe, North America, and Asia, Hubject connects over 1 million charge points, playing a pivotal role in establishing e-roaming as a standard for EV charging worldwide.

Christian Hahn, with a broad perspective on industries and market evolution, brings valuable insights to Hubject. His career began at PwC, where he worked in energy markets and first encountered e-Mobility in 2009. In 2012, Hahn joined Hubject, a startup then largely perceived as a German initiative. He was instrumental in expanding the company beyond Germany, launching operations in Austria in 2013, Belgium in 2014, and Denmark soon after.

Hahn's journey with Hubject has been marked by challenges, including convincing stakeholders of the importance of e-roaming for mass EV adoption. Yet, his determination has led to significant milestones, such as the launch of Plug&Charge technology, a seamless, secure solution that has grown to nearly three million EVs globally.

Hahn's leadership style has evolved over time, with letting go of control being a significant learning experience. He advises other leaders to stay grounded, build a strong team early on, and be open to feedback. Balancing the interests of multiple shareholders has been another challenge, but Hahn has navigated this successfully, leading Hubject from a startup to a global scale-up.

Outside of work, Hahn finds relaxation in gardening and spending time with his three children. He wishes he had invested earlier in building a strong leadership team and had better guidance on leadership during his career. Despite these reflections, Hahn's impact on the EV charging industry is undeniable.

Under Hahn's leadership, Hubject is focusing on scaling up Plug & Charge, enabling seamless charging for trucks, and investing more in financial services for charging networks. Hahn's vision for a more sustainable future, where mobility plays a key role in achieving this, continues to drive Hubject's mission forward.

Established by Hahn, the INTERCHARGE network conference (ICNC) has grown from 50 participants to over 5,000 attendees from around the world. The conference serves as a platform for discussing the latest trends and challenges in the e-roaming industry, further solidifying Hubject's position as a leader in the field.

As the EV charging industry continues to grow and evolve, Hahn's leadership at Hubject will undoubtedly continue to shape its future.
