Citizens are encouraged to take part in discussions about recreational spaces within the city
In the city of Bergisch Gladbach, a series of events aimed at improving playground and leisure sports facilities has been announced. The series kicked off on August 30, 2025, at Hebborn's Spielplatz Weizenfeld, with additional events scheduled in all six administrative districts.
The goal of these events is to record the current state of playground and leisure sports facilities on-site and discuss possible improvements. These events are expected to be a constructive exchange between the administration and all interested parties, providing an open forum for suggestions, criticism, and ideas about shaping livable and intergenerational playground and leisure facilities.
The focus is on "smart improvements" - targeted, often small measures that can have a significant impact with manageable effort. Engaged neighbours will also present their voluntary work in the neighbourhoods, and the playmobile of the multigenerational house will provide fun and entertainment for children at these events. Refreshments will be provided as well.
The events are scheduled as follows:
- District 1, Schildgen, Dorfplatz: September 14, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- District 2, Hebborn, Spielplatz Weizenfeld: August 30, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- District 3, Bücheler Weg, Herrenstrunden: October 12, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- District 4, Bolzplatz Ball and Kierdorfer Feld, Herkenrath: October 26, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- District 5, Spielplatz "Reiser/ Im Monsröttchen", Kaule: November 2, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
- District 6, Wallburg, Refrath: November 16, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
Interested parties can contact Nadine Quabach at 02202 142808 or [email protected] for more information. The Youth Office (Jugendamt), the Sports Administration (Sportverwaltung), or the CityGreen department (StadtGrün) in Bergisch Gladbach jointly organize these citizen dialogues on playgrounds and recreational sports facilities, including the event starting August 30, 2025, in Hebborn. They collaborate with Social Urban Development, the playmobile of the multigenerational house, and engaged neighbours, so reaching out to these city departments would be the way to become a participant in the dialogue.
These events aim to address questions such as how playgrounds are used today, what is missing, where there is potential for improvement, and what ideas residents have for the future. The city of Bergisch Gladbach invites its citizens to participate in these dialogues and contribute to the improvement of playground and leisure sports facilities in their neighbourhoods.
