In a significant move towards climate protection and long-term cost savings, the city of Dormagen is set to install photovoltaic systems on several of its municipal buildings. The city will receive approximately 330,000 euros in funding for this project, with the majority of the costs covered by the land and federal government.

The Tannenbusch School at Kronenpützchen is one of the recipients, receiving 38,600 euros for a photovoltaic system. The city library, the sports center on Wilhelm-Busch-Straße in Zons, and the Friedensschule in Gohr are also set to receive funding, with the sports center receiving 138,000 euros, the city library receiving 106,700 euros, and the Friedensschule receiving 46,700 euros.

Mayor Erik Lierenfeld expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that both ecologically and economically, the city benefits from the new photovoltaic systems. The city aims to reduce CO2 emissions and lower energy costs in the long term with the in-house production of solar power.

The city's own contribution is 5 percent, with the land and federal government covering the remaining 95 percent. The installation of the planned photovoltaic systems is scheduled to take place in the coming months.

The new photovoltaic systems will not only make an important contribution to climate protection but will also allow the city to make significant energy cost savings. The city plans to use the savings to budget funds, further strengthening its financial position.

The specific municipal council members who allocated federal funds for the installation of photovoltaic systems on the sports hall in Wilhelm-Busch-Straße in Zons, the city library, the Friedensschule in Gohr, and the Tannenbusch School in Kronenpützchen are not publicly detailed in available sources.

The new photovoltaic systems will also make the city more energy-efficient. This modernization of the four municipal buildings with the new photovoltaic systems will ensure that the city uses energy more efficiently, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future for Dormagen.
