City center introduces temporary educational retail establishment
In the heart of Krefeld, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Mittlerer Niederrhein has set up a unique initiative to address the shortage of skilled workers in the economy. The Pop-Up Store, located at Rheinstraße 111 in the city centre, offers a colourful and original atmosphere, designed to appeal to young people.
Jürgen Steinmetz, CEO of the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, describes the Pop-Up Store as a low-threshold offer, providing a relaxed, youth-friendly environment for discussions about open training positions. The store is housed in an empty retail space, transformed into a small wonderland filled with interactive activities.
One such activity is a driving simulator, allowing young people to experience driving a truck or lorry on the highway. Another attraction is a sensory station, where future apprentices can test their senses with real work clothes. Digital screens throughout the store display information about available training positions.
Comfortable sofas are available for teenagers to chat with advisors and entrepreneurs, making it easy for them to learn more about the value of dual training and the opportunities it presents. Mayor Timo Kühn of Krefeld is impressed by the Pop-Up Store, believing it to be an important measure against the shortage of skilled workers.
On its opening day, a class from the Gesamtschule Uerdingen visited the Pop-Up Store and were excited by the interactive offers. The Pop-Up Store aims to reach young people on their level, providing a response to the shortage of skilled workers in the economy.
The Pop-Up Store will remain open until November 12th, offering a unique opportunity for young people in Krefeld to explore the world of dual training and potentially secure a training position. Jürgen Steinmetz encourages young people to visit the Pop-Up Store and gain valuable insights into the world of work.
